Street battles rage on as Kiev protesters go to war with police
Protesters continued to clash with security forces at Kiev's European Square, Monday. Using makeshift clubs, stones and Molotov cocktails and hiding behind burnt out vehicles, police fired water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators. This latest bout of violence comes after Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych passed a number of bills that critics argue limit people's right to protest. As part of new legislation, the wearing of gas masks and helmets during protests is prohibited, ignored by protesters on Monday.
